Achilles Tendonitis
The Achilles tendon (or heel cord) is the thick strap that can be felt running down the back of the calf into the heel. The tendon is made up of many bundles or fibers of a strong material called collagen, which is the body's main tissue building block. It is attached to, and worked by, the large muscles that make up the calf (gastrocnemius and soleus). The Achilles Tendonitis Braces we prescribe can be seen in the hyperlink.
Shin Splints
Shin Splints is an umbrella term and not a real diagnosis. It is used as a catchall for overuse injury to any of the structures of the leg. Effective management of this condition depends on an accurate diagnosis and targeted treatment. For Stress Fracture we prescribe an Aircast Leg Brace backed by medical evidence for its effectiveness. Without this the consequences can be dire. This is why many good physiotherapists and sports medicine consultants will refer you to an Orthopaedic and Trauma surgeon promptly.
