Big Toe Fusion
Fusion of the great toe is an operation to stiffen the joint at the base of the great toe (first metatarsophalangeal joint), removing bony bumps and correcting any deformity.
Bunion Surgery
A metatarsal osteotomy is an operation for bunions (hallux valgus). The exact type of osteotomy can vary and may be known as a ‘Taylors’, ‘SCARF’ or ‘Chevron’ osteotomy but the principles of the operation are the same.
Mortons Neuroma
A Morton`s neuroma is swelling and inflammation of a nerve that lies between two metatarsal bones of your foot. It causes pain in the ball of your foot and possibly your toes. The cause is not fully understood but local compression with tight or high heeled shoes plays a role and certainly makes the symptoms worse.
Plantar Fasciitis
In some people the plantar fascia becomes painful and inflamed. This usually happens where it is attached to the heel bone, although sometimes it happens in the mid-part of the foot. This condition is called plantar fasciitis. This condition is usually due simply to constant stress, and is therefore commoner in people who spend all day on their feet or are overweight.
