Medico-legal & Medical Negligence Experience

Mr Edwards undertakes medico-legal expert witness work for upper limb injuries and welcomes enquiries in his field of expertise. His Medico-Legal Reports are prepared to the guidelines introduced by the Law Society and the British Orthopaedic Association and conform to Lord Woolf's reforms.

Publications



Research Interests and Publications

Mr Edwards has published work in peer reviewed journals, his research interests include shoulder arthroplasty and the management of complex upper limb fractures and soft tissue injuries. He obtained his Masters Degree in Trauma Surgery completing his dissertation on the management of massive haemorrhage in trauma. Clinical Experience



Clinical Experience

Mr Edwards acquired broad and high quality experience in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery whilst completing his higher surgical training on the Bristol programme. He then completed advanced fellowship training at the Melbourne Shoulder and Elbow Centre, Australia and at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre, Bristol focusing on cutting edge shoulder replacement surgery and soft tissue reconstruction techniques.

Gray was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training and is listed in the General Medical Council Specialist Register. Mr Edwards regularly utilises both contemporary open and arthroscopic techniques in the management of upper limb pathologies such as rotator cuff tears, shoulder joint instability (Dislocations), shoulder and elbow arthritis, tendon injuries around the elbow and nerve compression syndromes around the elbow and hand.

He is an active member of the trauma team at the Bristol Royal Infirmary dealing with complex upper limb injuries and general orthopaedic trauma.

Peer Reviewed Audit

Mr Edwards is involved in the evaluation of the performance of his own and his colleagues’ performance as per the standards of care required by the Department of Health. He undertakes rigorous annual appraisal.

Teaching



Teaching

Mr Edwards has been actively involved in medical education throughout his training and continues this trend as a consultant. Working in the University Hospital in Bristol, he is involved in the training of all levels of junior doctors and allied health professionals as well as continuing medical education and updates for fully qualified doctors.
