Mr Bill Harries MB BS, FRCS(Eng), FRCS(Ed), FRCS(Orth)
Curriculum Vitae
Mr Harries is a NHS Consultant and Honorary Senior Lecturer in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in the North Bristol NHS Trust. At North Bristol he is the Clinical Director of Orthopaedics and Trauma. He works in the Avon Orthopaedic Centre, Southmead Hospital, and Frenchay Hospital, Bristol. Mr Harries specialises in foot and ankle, knee surgery and sports injuries.
Affiliations
He is a member of the British Orthopaedic Association.
Medico-legal Experience
Mr Harries does not undertake medico-legal expert witness work.
Research Interests and Publications
Mr Harries has published in peer reviewed journals and his research interests include fracture fixation and the management of ankle injury. Mr Harries continues to publish research and articles on current Orthopaedic Practice. For a list of publications click Harries's Publications
Clinical Experience
Mr Harries has had a broad training and wide experience in Orthopaedic and Trauma surgery. He underwent basic surgical training in London, and specialist training in Bristol. He has been awarded The Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training and is therefore privileged to be listed in the General Medical Council Specialist Register. He has a major interest in sports trauma and Mr Harries has a particular interest in arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery and reconstruction of ankle and knee ligament injuries.
Peer Review Audit
Mr Harries is involved in the systematic critical analysis of his own and his colleagues' standards of medical care as required by the Department of Health.
Teaching
Mr Harries works in a teaching hospital and is, therefore, responsible for tutoring medical students, physiotherapists and nursing staff.
